Grants Writer

Fresh Start is seeking a full-time Grants Writer to support the organization's fundraising efforts. This role partners closely with the Senior Director of Grants to support the development and execution of a comprehensive grants' strategy aimed at raising over $1 million annually.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, highly organized, experienced grant writer who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, can produce compelling written proposals, and can effectively manage multiple priorities. Non–profit grant writing experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Writing & Submission

• Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports
• Tailor submissions to align with funder priorities while accurately reflecting Fresh Start's programs and impact
• Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather content, data, and budgets

Grants Management

• Maintain the grants calendar, including deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of proposals and reports
• Track proposal status and maintain records in CRM, (Raiser's Edge)

Research & Strategy Support

• Research prospective funders (foundations, corporations, and government sources)
• Support the development and execution of a comprehensive grants' strategy in partnership with the Senior Director of Grants
• Contribute to pipeline building and funding opportunity tracking

Data & Reporting

• Translate program data and outcomes provided by program and data teams into clear, compelling narratives for proposals and reports
• Ensure accuracy and consistency in how impact metrics are represented across submissions
• Support funder reporting and stewardship communications

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of experience in grant writing, non-profit grant writing preferred
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines with attention to detail
• Experience with CRM or grant tracking systems preferred
