Librarian

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Executes comprehensive reference and literature search services, interviewing customers to establish technical requirements, formulating cost-effective search strategies across internal and external databases, and compiling specialized, annotated bibliographies and reading lists.
• Directs library acquisitions and collection development, establishing procurement processes, collaborating with vendors and contracting offices to develop Statements of Work (SOW), and performing authoritative evaluations to select and maintain print and non-print media collections.
• Performs advanced, original, and modified descriptive cataloging and subject analysis using MARC formats, OCLC systems, and Library of Congress subject headings, independently interpreting cataloging rules to assign metadata to highly specialized information resources.
• Manages digital and physical library operations, overseeing circulation desk policies, developing and maintaining the library's website/homepage, and conducting instructional seminars to train customers on library resources and systems.
• Develops strategic plans and executive communications, preparing documentation, ad-hoc operational reports, and position papers, while serving as the primary library liaison delivering briefings to user groups, senior staff, and regional organizational networks.
