Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time physician at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. This position emphasizes high-quality clinical care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will join a team of faculty dedicated to providing exceptional gastroenterology care, advancing clinical education, and contributing to scholarly and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient gastroenterology care, including management of liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancers, and other digestive disorders.
• Participate in endoscopic procedures, as appropriate to training and experience.
• Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and didactic settings.
• Engage in departmental and divisional quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teamsincluding surgery, oncology, radiology, and nutritionfor optimal patient outcomes.
• Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and other academic programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment.
• Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
