Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: VARIABLE hours Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Experience in trauma, pediatrics, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, procedural sedation, and Code Blue/resuscitations Ability to manage common drips such as vasopressors and anti-arrhythmics Description: The Emergency Room Registered Nurse will provide care to patients in an emergency setting. The role requires strong assessment and clinical skills due to the varied nature of emergency medicine. Nurse-patient ratios are typically 1 to 4 or 1 to 5. The department treats a wide range of diagnoses and patient complaints, including trauma and acute illnesses. The nurse may be tasked with triage duties. Interaction with both physicians and mid-level providers is commonplace. The charge nurse will take an assignment and oversee care in the department. Staffing may include aides, EMTs, paramedics, or patient sitters, depending on daily needs. Respiratory therapy is present but may not be available at all times. Registered nurses will need to perform lab draws and read cardiac monitor strips. Weekend and holiday shifts are required, as well as potential floating to support other units. The dress code for the unit is navy blue scrubs. This position requires excellent communication and teamwork skills to ensure patient safety and quality care.
