Nuclear Medicine Technologist - PRN

Job Description: This role requires advanced certification in nuclear medicine and involves assessing patients and safely performing routine nuclear medicine procedures following prescribed safety procedures and protocols. The individual serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. Job Duties Verify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy. Use radiology information systems to facilitate patient care. Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding. Operate equipment independently to complete imaging procedures according to protocol, including IV placement and administration of radiopharmaceuticals. Review patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality. Complete timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and perform notification/remediation as warranted. Lead departmental programs, protocol development, system standardization, competency validation, safety programs, accreditation, and quality/efficiency initiatives. Assist in orientation and training of junior staff; provide feedback to annual staff evaluations. Adapt communication and behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and tailoring explanations of services or procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education Completion of an approved nuclear medicine program. Work Experience Required - None. Preferred - Nuclear medicine experience. Certifications Registered in Nuclear Medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or equivalent body recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR), or Intersocietal Commission Accreditation Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL). Registry eligible, registered within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license. Current unrestricted license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to travel throughout and between facilities and work a flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability). Physical and Environmental Demands Duties require exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently. The role involves moderate physical activity, including walking, standing, and occasional repetitive handling of moderate weight objects. The position requires working in a patient care area and potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications.
