Senior Scientist I

Cytokinetics seeks a Senior Scientist to lead small molecule synthesis and process development for cardiovascular drug candidates. The role encompasses synthetic route design, process optimization, scale-up activities, and regulatory support from early development through commercialization.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute scalable manufacturing routes for small molecule drug substances
- Optimize synthetic sequences for improved yield, purity, and manufacturability
- Conduct process characterization studies and establish critical process parameters
- Characterize process streams and products using analytical techniques
- Collaborate with CDMO partners on tech transfer and commercial scale-up activities
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field with 5+ years biotech/biopharma experience
- M.S. with 8+ years relevant small molecule drug substance development experience
- Expertise in multi-step organic synthesis and reaction optimization
- Experience scaling small molecule APIs from laboratory to manufacturing
- Proficiency in analytical techniques for drug characterization (HPLC, LC-MS, NMR)
- Familiarity with cGMP regulations and pharmaceutical quality systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective scientific communication abilities
Compensation: $162,000 - $189,000 per year
