Director/Senior Director Market Access Innovation & Strategy

Job Purpose

The Director / Senior Director, Market Access Innovation & Strategy will shape the development and execution of MoonLake's U.S. access strategy, bringing together payer engagement, evidence generation, patient access design, reimbursement strategy, and innovative solutions to address market access challenges. This individual will work across functions and with external stakeholders to shape launch strategy, optimize patient access pathways, develop compelling value narratives, and leverage data, technology, and emerging AI-enabled solutions to improve coverage, accelerate speed-to-therapy, and enhance the patient and provider experience.

Your profile

Major Accountabilities

• Payer Engagement & Access Strategy
  • Shape market access and utilization management (UM) account strategy together with internal payer account and analytics teams and external payer experts.
  • Define the payer-facing narrative and engagement strategy, including the value proposition, and build supporting materials (e.g., Payer Value Proposition document, PIE materials,). 
  • Drive HEOR project (and evidence generation) and infuse insights into payer engagement
• Integrated Regional / Account Access & Commercial execution
  • Lead development of innovative access solutions and pull-through strategies for regional, organized, and custom accounts by connecting payer strategy, patient services, and HCP facing teams.
  • Partner with KAMs, FRMs, Patient Services, Hub, Specialty Pharmacy, and Analytics to translate payer engagement objectives into practical access solutions that improve the patient and provider experience.
  • Design scalable and customer-specific approaches to address access barriers, reimbursement challenges, and therapy initiation gaps.
• Patient Access Program Design
  Shape design of patient support and reimbursement programs to optimize access and conversion from prescription to therapy initiation by partnering with hub, specialty pharmacy, field reimbursement, legal, compliance, and market access teams to define: 
  • Bridge program eligibility criteria and duration 
  • Quick-start strategies • Affordability program design 
  • Renewal and reauthorization support 
  • Conversion strategies from bridge to paid therapy 
  • Define KPIs and patient journey analytics to monitor program effectiveness.
• Prior Authorization & Appeals Innovation
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions, including AI-enabled technologies and workflow automation, to reduce administrative burden associated with prior authorizations and appeals. 
  • Partner with vendors, hubs, SPs, and technology providers to identify emerging technologies that can improve approval rates, speed-to-therapy, and provider experience through:
    • Electronic prior authorization workflows 
    • Appeals generation and automation 
    • Agentic AI and digital assistant opportunities for offices and FRMs
• Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) & Organized Customer Strategy
  • Develop access and value communication strategies for IDNs, health systems, and integrated provider organizations. 
  • Assess opportunities for strategic data contracting partnership 
  • Partner with KAMs and Market Access leadership to support organized customer engagement plans and account-specific value propositions
• Additional Access Pull-Through Materials:  
  • Develop and create materials facing payers, HCPs, and patients to communicate and support patient access (e.g., payer leave-behinds, HCP office reimbursement guides, PA checklists, appeals templates, specialty pharmacy network materials, affordability resources, and other access-support tools).
•   Access Improvement Initiatives & Advocacy: Drive initiatives and external collaborations with advocacy organizations and other stakeholders to improve patient access and reduce treatment barriers

Job Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required 
• Advanced degree (MSc, MBA, PhD, PharmD, or MD) strongly preferred 

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in U.S. market access, payer strategy, reimbursement, access consulting, payer marketing, healthcare strategy, or related roles.
• Experience supporting a successful product launch in an immunology, specialty, rare disease, or biologics market is preferred.
• Experience developing market access, reimbursement, payer engagement, or patient access strategies across commercial and government channels.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Market Access, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Commercial, and Analytics organizations.
• Experience leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, external vendors, and senior leadership.
• Prior experience in management consulting, life sciences strategy consulting, or launch excellence roles is a plus.
• Experience evaluating and implementing innovative solutions, digital capabilities, analytics, or AI-enabled approaches to address market access challenges is preferred.

Skills/knowledge/behavioural competencies:

• Strong understanding of the U.S. payer ecosystem, including commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, IDN, and health system channels.
• Strong understanding of utilization management tools, including prior authorization, step therapy, formulary management, appeals, and reimbursement processes.
• Understanding of payer evidence requirements, HEOR principles, AMCP dossier development, and value communication strategies.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify innovative solutions to complex market access and patient access challenges.
