About the State Fair of Texas The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit celebrating Texas heritage through entertainment, education, and community involvement. It hosts the annual exposition each September and October. Summary Seasonal Digital Marketing Assistant – October 2026 deadline. Support marketing and social media initiatives leading up to and during the 2026 Fair. Responsibilities include monitoring and engaging across social media, conducting social listening, assisting with content creation, scheduling and publishing, editing photos and digital assets, and supporting a variety of marketing projects. Essential Functions Maintain awareness of State Fair branding. Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and foster positive online community engagement. Conduct social listening to track brand mentions, industry trends, and customer feedback. Track and organize marketing assets, content calendars, and project deliverables. Assist with scheduling, publishing, and managing content across social media platforms and other digital channels. Edit and optimize photos, graphics, and digital assets for social media, email marketing, website, and promotional use. Stay up to date with trends and current events to inform content. Assist in updating and editing copy on BigTex.com to ensure accuracy and consistency. Support broader marketing initiatives as needed. Qualifications Proficiency in social media platforms: Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Experience with social media management, community engagement, and monitoring brand conversations across digital channels. Familiarity with social listening, content scheduling, and analytics platforms; Brandwatch experience preferred. Basic graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or Canva. Photography and videography experience, including capturing and editing content. Familiarity with WordPress or other website CMS; copywriting and content editing according to AP Style Guidelines. Passion for digital marketing, storytelling, and the State Fair brand. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a fast‑paced environment. Ability to Respond to comments and messages on social media, engaging audiences professionally. Conduct social listening and identify trends, conversations, and engagement opportunities. Write and edit engaging content for social media, email campaigns, and website updates consistent with brand voice. Design graphics for social media, emails, and marketing materials following brand guidelines. Capture and edit photos and videos for digital content needs. Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Be proactive and reliable in planning and implementing responsibilities. Manage own time, establish schedules, and meet deadlines, including handling multiple projects concurrently. Take direction and fulfill assignments as requested. Develop a creative eye for high‑quality content. Adapt to new assignments or responsibilities as needed. Maintain strong organizational skills, be detail‑oriented, multi‑task, and handle high‑stress situations. Work all 24 days of the State Fair event, including key special events. Preferred Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, Photo/Video, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience supporting social media accounts, digital marketing initiatives, community engagement, or marketing communications. Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with fairgoers. Knowledge of photography and videography skills is helpful. Highly proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, and the State Fair’s social media scheduling system; ability to learn other software programs as needed. Prior event marketing, nonprofit organization, or large‑scale public event experience is a plus. Working Conditions Office environment with exposure to computer screens. Exposure to a range of environments, including outdoors and all weather conditions, in preparation for the annual State Fair event.
