We understand that our employees have choices, and we strive to be an employer of choice for our team.**Come join our award-winning team at Floyd Valley Healthcare in our Laboratory Department!** Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, IA has a full-time position (40 hours per week) in our Laboratory Department for a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technician. Evening position Monday-Friday (3 pm-11 pm) and every 5th weekend (6 pm-6 am) Floyd Valley offers a positive culture that supports a healthy work-life balance. Our Mission is to be a progressive healthcare partner serving with compassion, integrity and excellence.**Responsibilities:*** Serves as a resource to lab staff, maintains inventory for the chemistry and microbiology departments, trains new staff, and conducts competencies for staff.* Updates policies and procedures and activates troubleshooting procedures when necessary.* Provides phlebotomy on adults, children, and infants by venipuncture or capillary methods and direct arterial punctures.* Performs routine and special laboratory testing, recording, and test results reporting within established turnaround time.* Interpret analytical findings/results to assess compliance with hospital and industry standards.* Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and testing following established procedures.* Performs instrument maintenance, calibrations, and function checks.* Assists in evaluating new tests and/or new procedures; perform quality control, proficiency testing and remedial action for unacceptable results.* Every fifth weekend; rotating holidays.**Requirements:*** Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.* 2 years of Microbiology experience required.
