About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Long-Term Care Duration: 20 weeks Shift: Part Time, Day or Night (variable, as needed) Hours per Shift: Variable Experience: Minimum 1 year as RN in Long-Term Care License: New York RN Licensure Certifications: BLS (AHA or RQI) Must-Have: - 1 year experience as RN in Long-Term Care - EOW (Every Other Week) availability required - Holiday availability required Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan. The RN will possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs. The RN will provide the necessary care for adult and geriatric patient groups. The RN will provide direct and indirect skilled nursing care for assigned residents. The RN will follow defined policies and procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The RN will maintain a collaborative relationship with other nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary staff. The RN will maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and clinical expertise through continuing education and in-service programs. The RN will have the ability to provide care to geriatric residents. Job Duties: The RN will collect data relevant to residents' physical and psychosocial conditions on an ongoing basis. The RN will communicate findings to the Supervisor and other members of the Interdisciplinary Team. The RN will contribute to the creation of a culturally relevant plan of resident care reflecting nursing diagnoses and interventions to achieve desired outcomes. The RN will involve the resident and family in this process while promoting a healthy, safe environment. The RN will recommend revisions to the plan of care after evaluating resident outcomes. The RN will indicate the need for referrals to ensure all aspects of the resident's care have been addressed. The RN will collaborate with the resident, family, and members of the Interdisciplinary Team. The RN will participate in maintaining customer satisfaction. The RN will maintain current knowledge and competency in Nursing Practice. The RN will participate in the mentoring and orientation of staff. The RN will consider factors related to safety, cost, and impact in planning the delivery of care. The RN will provide leadership in the professional practice setting under the direction of the Nurse Manager. The RN will demonstrate knowledge and competency in practice. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated in this role. Required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
