Benefits Specialist

About the Role Clark Hill PLC is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Benefits Specialist in either the Detroit, Lansing, or Pittsburgh office. The Benefits Specialist administers and delivers employee benefit programs, including health, welfare, and retirement plans. This role is a key resource for employees, HR partners, and vendors, providing guidance on benefit eligibility, enrollment, life events, and plan processes while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. This is a hybrid position, requiring presence in the office at least three days per week. Required Skills And Experience A minimum of three years of experience in employee benefits, human resources, or a related field; In-depth working knowledge of health, welfare, retirement, wellness, leave, and accommodation programs and applicable regulations such as COBRA and HIPAA; Track record of guiding employees through benefits enrollment and life event processes, including but not limited to explaining and monitoring documentation requirements and deadlines; Familiarity with benefits systems, data integrations, testing, imports, exports, and routine audits; Experience conducting reporting and analysis related to benefits administration, enrollment activity, and process performance; Ability to oversee COBRA administration and coordinate third‑party administrators and carriers to ensure accurate and timely service delivery and issue resolution. Preferred Skills A track record of excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing the highest quality client service; Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication skills, prioritization skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion. Qualifications Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field required; SHRM, HRCI, or CEBS certification preferred; Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required, including the ability to work with formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and large data sets for reporting, reconciliation, and audit support; Excellent attention to detail with superb proofreading skills; Ability to prioritize and manage a high‑volume and diverse workload, able to handle multiple tasks at one time with exceptional organizational skills; and Must have sound judgment and business acumen when interacting with internal and external clients. Pay Range And Compensation Package The salary range at the time of posting is $65,000 - $85,000 annually, based upon a full‑time work schedule. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to employee qualifications, relevant experience, skill sets, training, internal equity, and market data. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
