Your Opportunity We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager / Technical Lead – Linear Infrastructure who’s passionate about shaping water infrastructure and making a real impact within the community. In this role, you’ll lead the planning, design, and delivery of storm and sanitary sewer conveyance and watermain distribution projects for clients across the Mid-Atlantic, working alongside a diverse group of technical experts to deliver meaningful solutions for our clients and communities. As a technical mentor you will be expected to be in the office, on average, three days a week. Your Key Responsibilities Manage a team of design professionals and technicians Mentor and supervise staff and develop high‑performing project teams Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long‑lasting client relationships. Participate in business line teams to manage and develop proposals, client‑facing business development contacts, meetings, walk‑downs, and presentations; create scope of work documents and estimates, collaborate with multiple business lines to develop opportunities; and perform quality reviews. Assist senior engineers/designer with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule. Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned wastewater‑related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines. Design basis documents, engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances, equipment sizing and selection, engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs), engineering reports, feasibility studies; and presentations to clients, regulatory agencies, and/or project stakeholders. Assist with the management of the design and construction of projects. Develop project management plans for projects; establish goals and objectives for unique and complex projects. Responsible for successfully establishing projects to achieve budget, schedule, and contractual obligations. Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical review projects by others. Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel. Accountable for making decisions on large projects. You coordinate with the regulatory review to seek final approval. Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams. Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects. Assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting. Oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size. Undertake decisions and recommendations governed by general policy and project management governance. Supervise local staff and responsible for providing mentoring and coaching for future leaders, including development of succession plans for key positions. Ability to perform mass & energy balance and process equipment sizing calculations and coordinate with other engineering disciplines including stress/structural, instrumentation & controls, and electrical. Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions. Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings. Understanding of construction methods, such as open‑cut and trenchless (microtunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure, is considered an asset. Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation, is considered an asset. Demonstrates strong understanding of conveyance system construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction methods and defining work area limits. Experience and expertise with the design of conveyance projects in urbanized, congested areas. Experience with the design of water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure 24‑inches in diameter and larger. Education and Experience Education: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Environmental, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university. Minimum 15 years of project management experience in a consulting environment, with a focus on conveyance and water infrastructure design. Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months. Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus. Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship. Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required. Pay Range Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - $141,500.00 - $212,200.00 Annually Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas - $151,700.00 - $227,600.00 Annually Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) - $162,000.00 - $243,100.00 Annually Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
