About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required Must-Have: - PreOp/Phase II recovery/PAW Phase I experience Description: The unit has 4 preop bays, 6 recovery bays, 6 restore/PCI rooms, and 5 operating rooms. There are also 1 cath lab and 2 endo suites, along with 12 outpatient endo/pre/post rooms. The total staff on the unit is 43. Staff typically work day shifts of 8 hours over 5 days, with a usual schedule from 09:00 to 17:30 and some flexibility. Night shifts are on-call. Patient ratios follow ASPAN standards. The equipment used includes GE monitors, Plum IV pumps, Doppler, Sonosite, bladder scanners, KCI wound vacs, Prevena WV, bi-phasic defibrillator, and Bair Paws/Bair huggers. The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech. Candidates with experience in PreOp, Phase II recovery, and regional block assistance will be prioritized. Typical procedures performed include general surgery, ortho, gyn, vascular, gastrointestinal, PCI, and interventional radiology. Blood transfusions are also conducted. The ideal candidate should be flexible, possess a positive attitude, be a team player, and have the ability to work autonomously. There is a requirement to be on-call one weekend per month (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) and one weekday per week per month. Candidates without the must-have skills will not be considered for the role.
