Senior Postdoctoral Associate – The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP), Stony Brook University We anticipate filling one or more postdoctoral research appointments in theoretical physics, with anticipated appointment dates of September 1, 2026. Required Qualifications Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in theoretical physics or a closely related field, with a record of three years of independent research experience. Brief Description of Duties Conduct research in the field of the researcher's choice in theoretical physics, including particle theory, cosmology, quantum field theory, string theory, condensed matter, statistical mechanics, and quantum information theory. Collaborate with senior and junior members of YITP, the Departments of Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics, the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics, and Brookhaven National Laboratory. Present seminars based on the Postdoctoral Associate’s work during the academic year; travel occasionally to present research results or collaborate on institute-sponsored research. Perform other duties as needed. Salary Salary range: $57,000 – $73,000.
