Press Brake Operator

The Press Brake Operator must perform tasks involving physical labor for operation and set up of the press brake and other various machines. May also operate a variety of other equipment including, but not limited to, hand, power tools, or other machinery. The Press Brake Programmer is expected to keep their area safe and free of hazards.

Press Brake Operator Qualifications & Skills:

• Must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and balance.
• Must be able to read and understand warning signs and labels in a manufacturing setting, be able to interpret drawings, written instructions and specifications.
• Should be capable of working as a member of a team and have basic problem-solving, math skills, and use precision measuring instruments.

Press Brake Operator Responsibilities & Duties:

• Follow direction and instructions of supervisor
• Ability to complete required documentation when needed
• Start up, set up, and prepare machines for operation, loading and unloading material
• Perform operator level maintenance as needed, requisition replacement parts as needed
• Deburr finished pieces as needed
• Inspects finished pieces for proper specifications, tooling, and completeness
• Sort finished jobs according to destination
• Maintain and communicate finished jobs
• Monitor supplies, notify if any are needed
• Keep machine areas clean and clear
• Assist other workers when not busy with assigned machine
• Operate hand truck, industrial truck and other material handling equipment when needed
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Physical Requirements:

• Meet D. L. George & Sons medical, drug and alcohol qualifications
• Ability to operate in a machine shop environment up to 12 hours per day, 40 to 50 hours per week
• Majority of work requires standing or walking, minimal climbing
• Handle material weighing up to 50 pounds with minimal assistance
