Associate Tax Accountant

We are seeking an Associate Tax Accountant to join our Tax team. The Associate Tax Accountant will assist with the preparation of tax returns, workpapers and related financial information while developing their knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations. Working closely with experienced team members, the Associate will receive ongoing training and exposure to increasingly complex assignments as their technical knowledge and confidence grow. This is a hybrid position based in our Campbell, California office, with employees expected to work in the office up to four days per week based on business needs. Role Description Prepare individual and business tax returns and related financial statements under the guidance of experienced tax professionals. Develop a working knowledge of federal and state tax concepts, regulations, laws and filing requirements. Review and organize client information, including tax statements and documentation related to personal and business income, rental property, business property tax, sales tax and tax payments. Prepare clear, accurate and well-organized workpapers, calculations and supporting documentation for review. Follow established firm processes from project assignment through completion and client delivery. Research basic tax matters using available technical resources and guidance. Assist with federal and state tax notices and learn appropriate response procedures. Utilize tax, accounting and workflow software and other technology to efficiently complete assignments. Respond to review comments and incorporate feedback into future work. Manage assigned workload, deadlines and time reporting while communicating proactively with supervisors and team members. Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive, supportive team environment. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to continually build technical and professional skills. Education & Experience Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or a related business discipline. Meets or is working toward the educational requirements necessary to sit for the CPA exam, with an interest in pursuing CPA licensure. 1–2 years of public accounting or related tax experience preferred. This is a hybrid position based in our Campbell, California office, with employees expected to work in the office up to four days per week based on business needs. This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay. Overtime will be required during traditional public accounting busy seasons. Compensation The salary range for this position is $70,000–$90,000 annually.
