Assembly Process Engineer

WorkSource is seeking an Assembly Process Engineer to improve manufacturing operations by optimizing assembly processes, equipment, and tooling. This role focuses on increasing productivity, reducing waste and downtime, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, on-time product assembly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: Process Development & Optimization- Develop and improve assembly processes to increase efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish and document standardized assembly processes and procedures.
- Select, implement, and support assembly equipment, tools, and automation systems.
- Oversee equipment setup, maintenance, calibration, and safe operation.
- Monitor product quality and resolve assembly-related defects.
- Partner with Quality teams to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Provide technical support to production teams.
- Troubleshoot equipment, process, and quality issues to minimize downtime.
- Analyze production data and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Train operators on assembly processes, equipment, and best practices.
- Serve as a technical resource for production personnel.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and PFMEAs.
- Ensure process standardization and compliance with operational requirements.
- Track and report process performance metrics and improvement activities.
- Strong knowledge of assembly systems, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
- Basic CAD experience for drawing modifications.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and communication abilities.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and relevant experience will be considered.
- Manufacturing, production, and assembly facility environment with regular interaction across departments.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including noise, temperature fluctuations, and confined spaces.
