Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Veterinary Behaviorist who has excellent clinical and communication skills and exemplifies our Core Values (BE EPIC) to lead our collaborative and integrative Behavioral Medicine Department. Our Behavioral Medicine Department is distinctively woven into our broader hospital operations, allowing its team members to directly care for primary Behavior Department patients and clients in addition to contributing to hospital-wide low-stress handling and behavioral management strategies for both inpatient and outpatient care. Our comprehensive network of departments includes Anesthesiology, Avian & Exotics, Behavioral Medicine, Clinical Pathology, Emergency and Critical Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Primary Care, Rehabilitation, and Specialty Surgery.
Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality outpatient Behavioral Medicine care
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding behavioral findings, medical and behavior modification treatment plans, and expectations
• Collaborate with a skilled support team of technicians, assistants, and front desk staff within and outside of the Behavior Department
• Consult on and assist with behavioral management of patients hospital-wide, including outpatients and inpatients
• Provide CE for doctors and staff regarding behavioral management of patients and safe handling practices
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely medical records and treatment plans
• Participate in departmental and hospital meetings, rounds and case discussions
• Mentor Veterinary Interns and Veterinary Student Externs as assigned
• Support our culture of teaching, learning, mentorship, and teamwork
Qualifications
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Veterinary Behavior (DACVB)
• DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New Jersey
• Active DEA license or DEA licensure eligible
• Strong interpersonal, teaching, and communication skills
• Interest in hospital-wide behavioral support, low-stress handling, and team training
