Residential Assistant IThe Residential Assistant I provides our guests with supportive assistance to maintain a safe, welcoming, and clean environment, and serves as the bridge to meeting the needs of the person as required. This position also works with staff to ensure a safe environment for all and aids as needed to ensure that the programs within Housing Services are met.Qualifications RequiredAbility to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.Education: No degree required, but High School/GED recommended. Any combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered.Qualifications PreferredLanguage: Proficiency in oral/written English; bilingual a plus (Spanish and/or Creole).Skills: Computer literacy (Word, data programming) required.Successful completion of a toxicology test and a criminal background check.Successful completion of Level II screening for all licensed clinicians and others, if required by funding source.Valid FL Driver License with a clean driving record, if required for the position.Culturally sensitive to the social, psychological, and healthcare needs of the vulnerable populations served.Primary ResponsibilitiesAbility to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances.Demonstrate commitment to the Values and Mission of the Brothers of St. John of God in serving the needs of the underserved populations: Hospitality (create a welcoming, comfortable environment), Respect (honor the dignity and worth of every person), Spirituality (nurture hope and joy amid struggle), Quality (foster centers of excellence through continuous improvement), Healing (respond to the whole person—body, mind, and spirit), and Responsibility (promote competency, efficiency, and accountability in all duties).Welcome guests in a hospitable, professional manner to establish a positive connection.Perform daily monitoring of all structures and units at the facility; read daily logs for follow-up on any previous shift concerns regarding safety and health.Assist clients with daily activities and assist staff with conducting random urinalysis.Ensure that the facility is clean at all times; assist in the removal and disposal of furniture, fixtures, and other debris.Ensure the dispensation and storage of supplies; conduct room inspections and document any maintenance repairs needed.Answer phones and take messages as necessary during evening shifts; inform the supervisor of any problems that occur during evening and early morning hours.Perform other duties as assigned.The duties and responsibilities described in this job description are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
