Department 02050 GCMG SHVI: Rock Hill - Cardiology Status Full time Benefits Eligible Hours 40 hours per week Schedule Monday to Friday, 1st shift Pay Range $38.20 – $57.30 Major Responsibilities Performs advanced cardiac ultrasound procedures (M-mode, 2-D, Doppler, Color Flow Doppler) and makes necessary measurements for accurate, high-quality results. Assists physicians in the Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies for complex procedures. Identifies cardiac abnormalities, extends scope of examinations appropriately, and correlates invasive and noninvasive tests with cardiac anatomy and function. Prepares patients, obtains clinical history and laboratory data, and adjusts imaging techniques to produce comprehensive, diagnostic echocardiograms. Assists in transesophageal studies, calculates appropriate measurements, and sterilizes probes. Communicates findings to clinical staff. Records statistics and maintains the Echocardiography Lab and its equipment, reporting malfunctions. Provides technical resource to staff, physicians, and students to optimize patient care. Implements new technology protocols with supervisor and ensures system standards are adhered to. Works with the medical director to develop quality processes, conduct quarterly reviews, and assist with ICAEL accreditation. Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development, and age-specific patient assessment. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 6 months unless exempted by department leader. Education Required Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved sonography program. Experience Required Typically 2 years of cardiovascular sonography experience, including digital quantification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Advanced knowledge of complex sonographic principles, instrumentation, techniques, and computer methods for capturing and analyzing echocardiographic data. Proficiency in cardiovascular sonography procedures such as transesophageal and congenital. In-depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills. Intermediate computer skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Operates all necessary equipment. Ability to sit 50% and stand/​walk 20% of the workday. Can lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Can push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must frequently push or pull over 100 lbs.; use hands and feet to operate equipment. Functional speech, vision, and hearing. Required to wear protective clothing (lead aprons, isolation gowns, protective eyewear, etc.) as needed. Exposed to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Any exceptions must be documented through Employee Health.
