University Ambassador
Centenary University, A New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation
Job Description
Job Description
Centenary University Mission
Centenary University launches students into a successful career and life. Centenary advances three strategic priorities: Student Success, University Vitality, and World Engagement.
Position Summary
The University Ambassador - First Year is a full-cycle enrollment and student-success professional who recruits prospective first-year students, guides students and families through admission, financial-aid, deposit, registration, onboarding, and transition, and supports a successful start at Centenary University. The position manages an assigned territory and student caseload, develops relationships with high schools, counselors, families, and community partners, and uses personalized outreach and enrollment data to improve conversion and reduce melt. The University Ambassador serves as a consistent point of contact from inquiry through the student’s transition into the University.
Core Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes
1) First-Year Pipeline Development & Territory Outreach
• Manage an assigned recruitment territory and conduct high school visits, college fairs, community outreach, open houses, campus tours, and other recruitment activities.
• Build relationships with school counselors, students, families, community-based organizations, and other partners.
• Use market and funnel data to prioritize outreach and strengthen inquiry and applicant pipelines.
Outcome: Increased inquiry, applicant, admitted, and deposited student activity from assigned markets.
2) Caseload Management, Yield & Enrollment Targets
• Proactively manage an assigned caseload of prospective first-year students using CRM-driven calls, texts, email, meetings, and follow-up tasks.
• Guide students from inquiry through application, admission, deposit, registration, and enrollment.
• Identify stalled students, yield risks, and enrollment barriers and intervene proactively.
Outcome: Achievement of assigned first-year enrollment goals and improved conversion across the enrollment funnel.
3) Application, Acceptance & Financial-Aid Navigation
• Support students and families through application completion, required documents, admission decisions, FAFSA completion, financial-aid review, scholarships, and affordability planning.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid and Admissions Operations to ensure student files are accurate, complete, and processed in a timely manner.
• Translate complex financial and enrollment information into clear next steps for students and families.
Outcome: Higher application completion, stronger FAFSA and financial-aid follow-up, fewer processing delays, and increased student confidence.
4) Deposit, Registration, Onboarding & Summer Melt Prevention
• Ensure deposited students complete required onboarding steps, including registration, housing when applicable, orientation, placement or readiness requirements, and other transition tasks.
• Execute deposit, registration, and summer-melt prevention outreach and campaigns.
• Partner with Academic Advising, Registrar, Student Life, First-Year Experience, Athletics, and other offices to remove barriers.
Outcome: A higher percentage of deposited students complete enrollment requirements on time and matriculate successfully.
5) First-Semester Transition & Student Success
• Maintain communication with assigned students through the transition into the first semester.
• Monitor early attendance concerns, academic alerts, engagement issues, or other transition barriers when information is available.
• Connect students to advising, tutoring, accessibility, wellbeing, belonging, and other student-success resources as needed.
Outcome: Stronger first-semester transition, early engagement, and persistence among assigned students.
6) Student & Family Relationship Management
• Provide timely, accurate, welcoming, and individualized communication to students and families.
• Understand each student’s academic interests, goals, financial concerns, decision factors, and campus interests.
• Create personalized connections to faculty, programs, coaches, and student-support resources when appropriate.
Outcome: Higher student and family engagement, satisfaction, trust, and enrollment conversion.
7) CRM, Data Accuracy & Performance Management
• Maintain complete and accurate CRM records, communication notes, funnel stages, tasks, and reminders.
• Use data to prioritize outreach, identify melt risk, and track caseload progress.
• Review conversion and activity data regularly and adjust outreach strategies as needed.
Outcome: Reliable student records, timely intervention, and clear accountability for assigned enrollment outcomes.
8) Recruitment Events, Campaigns & Cross-Campus Collaboration
• Plan, support, and deliver recruitment, admitted-student, yield, registration, and transition events.
• Participate in targeted campaigns such as application completion, admit conversion, deposit drives, registration days, and summer melt prevention.
• Collaborate across Enrollment and campus departments to identify recurring barriers and improve student experience.
Outcome: High-quality recruitment and yield activity with measurable impact on enrollment and transition.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, academic advising, student success, customer service, relationship management, or a related field preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to explain complex admissions, financial-aid, enrollment, and University processes clearly and accurately.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple student cases, deadlines, events, and priorities.
• Ability to work effectively across academic and administrative departments and maintain confidentiality under FERPA and University policy.
• Proficiency with CRM systems, student-information systems, Microsoft Office, and related technology; experience with Recruit and Colleague preferred.
