HVAC Service Technician

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC and mechanical systems across a variety of project types, including tenant improvements, renovations, and service contracts. This role requires a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting skills who can deliver high-quality service while working in fast-paced environments.

The ideal candidate has experience servicing rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment, and is comfortable working independently while maintaining strong communication with clients and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, and air handling units.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal system performance.
• Diagnose issues related to electrical components, controls, compressors, motors, and refrigerant systems.
• Service and repair refrigeration systems and related mechanical equipment.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Perform system startups, testing, and commissioning as needed.
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
• Communicate with customers to explain issues, solutions, and recommended repairs.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, codes, and company procedures.
• Coordinate with dispatch, project teams, and management to complete service calls efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, tools, and jobsite.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician, preferably in commercial environments.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, controls, and HVAC components.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
• EPA Certification required (Universal preferred).
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on commercial tenant improvement or service-based environments.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and controls.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and service contracts.
• OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
