Accounting Technician PositionThe Modesto Irrigation District is currently recruiting to fill one full-time regular position to perform specialized complex clerical, financial analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, and payroll functions.Any qualified individual may apply. This is a non-exempt position and is allocated to the Administrative, Technical and Clerical Bargaining Unit. The list established as a result of this recruitment may be used to fill other Accounting Technician vacancies within the District that may occur through September 10, 2027. Please be advised that a 10 key certificate will be required of all qualified applicants in order to continue in the recruitment process.Examples of DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Receives, organizes, and enters employee timecards for payroll processing in accordance with District policies, procedures, and labor agreementsOrganizes and files payroll-related records and documentationPrepares accounting records and reports for FMLA, accrual balance reporting, and overtime workedAssists auditors for purpose of providing supporting documentation and/or information on internal processes that is required for the annual District financial auditResearches and answers questions regarding payroll records and proceduresInputs data into system to produce payrollDistributes payroll checks and direct deposit notifications to department heads, supervisors, and employeesAssists accounts payable department with retention of capital invoices and filingAssists accounting department in collecting required information related to small projectsOther related duties as assignedTypical QualificationsAny combination of education, experience, knowledge, and abilities may satisfy the necessary minimum qualifications. A typical way to obtain the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities would be:Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with two (2) years college coursework with emphasis in Accounting or Business Administration.Experience: Two (2) to Four (4) years experience in related work with a minimum of two (2) years general accounting or financial experience.Knowledge and Abilities:Knowledge of personal computers and/or data entry and office equipmentKnowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software requiredKnowledge of basic accounting and mathematic principlesCommunicate both verbally and in writingInteract with employees at all levels of the DistrictAbility to research and solve problems in an efficient timely mannerAbility to maintain accurate files and recordsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential informationSupplemental InformationQualified applicants must submit a completed District application to be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
