Substitute Food Service Worker

Bennington Public Schools is seeking a substitute food service worker. The position requires flexibility, compassion, and a willingness to help.

Performance responsibilities include:

• Assisting the head cook in meal preparation using HAACP methods and standardized recipes.
• Substituting duties such as serving meals, general kitchen and equipment cleaning, dish room, mopping, stocking, and inventory.
• Following portioning guidelines and recipe instructions to ensure proper nutritional value.
• Using food service equipment and supplies properly.
• Demonstrating acceptable interpersonal skills and relations with co-workers, staff, students, and the general public.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills, knowledge, and abilities required include:

• Operating standard kitchen and office equipment and software applications.
• Preparing and serving meals.
• Completing temperature logs and production records accurately and efficiently.
• Working effectively under strict timelines.
• Understanding school district operations and philosophy.
• Concepts of food safety and sanitation.
• Time management and independent judgment.
• Manual dexterity to handle knives and other kitchen equipment.
