Director of Accounting

Location Phoenix, Arizona Company Chamberlin + Associates Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced and hands‑on Director of Finance to lead all financial operations for our growing multifamily portfolio. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning. This position works closely with the COO and ownership, playing a key role in driving performance, improving systems, and supporting acquisitions and long‑term growth. Key Responsibilities Lead all financial and accounting functions across the multifamily portfolio Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting Ensure financial accuracy and timeliness of ownership reporting Prepare and review investor reporting packages and capital accounts Monitor and drive NOI performance across properties Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Manage cash flow, distributions, and lender reporting Establish and maintain standards for vendor tracking, AP aging review, and statement reconciliations Oversee multi‑entity accounting structures (LLCs per asset) Build, manage, and mentor the accounting team Coach, train, and develop apartment staff to improve performance and growth Establish and improve internal controls and financial processes Partner with the COO and ownership on acquisitions and strategy Coordinate with CPAs, lenders, and third‑party partners Oversee financial compliance related to real‑estate operations Foster a positive, high‑performance team culture Qualifications 5+ years of experience in multifamily or property management finance Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) Leadership experience (Controller, Director, or similar) Strong understanding of NOI, Balance Sheets, GL, budgets, and distributions Experience with multi‑entity accounting Knowledge of real‑estate accounting compliance Experience with AppFolio preferred Strong communication and leadership skills Positive, energetic leadership style Strategic and hands‑on ability Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $125,000–$135,000 (DOE) Bonus potential based on performance Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance 401(k) retirement plan Generous PTO and sick days Paid birthday off Travel Requirements Ability to travel nationally as needed Equal Opportunity Employer Chamberlin + Associates is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law. #J-18808-Ljbffr CA Mgmt
