Licensed Journeyman Electrician

Walker Engineering is currently taking applications for a licensed journeyman electricians in the Austin area. If you are an experienced electrical journeyman and meet and or and exceed the requirements below, we would like to talk with you!

A journeyman electrician will work under the guidance of a foreman or superintendent in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type project. A journeyman may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classifications of an E-5 and below. Applicants must be willing to work night shift and overtime as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
• Performs underground layout and rough-in.
• Determines wire and conduit sizing.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
• Installs BUSS feeders.
• Performs switchgear installation and terminations.
• Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
• Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
• Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
• Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.

Position Requirements:

• Hold a current journeyman's (TDLR) license.
• Minimum 5+ years commercial experience.
• Have proven leadership skills and an effective communicator.
• Understands production & material management.
• Are skilled in the tools and installation methods used in commercial construction.
• OSHA30 a plus.
• Understand the importance of JHA's.
• Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
• MUST understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations.
• Must be able to work occasional overtime if required.
• Have reliable transportation.

Education Requirements:

• High school graduate, GED or equivalent.
