Talascend is currently seeking a Welder for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Haltom City, Texas . This schedule is for Friday-Sunday schedule (36 hr workweek)


Overview


The welder will be responsible for fitting, joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques. The role requires adherence to product specifications and production schedules to ensure high-quality welds and meet customer requirements.


Responsibilities

• Perform welding duties using a wire welder
• Weld steel components according to layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions
• Weld in various directions: flat and horizontal
• Set up and lay out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and rework finished products
• Collaborate with fitters or welders to assist in fabricating or welding multi-component parts
• Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torches, and other related tools
• Inspect and correct welds to meet product specifications
• Examine workpieces for defects and measure to ensure conformance with specifications
• Follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and work instructions
• Cross-train and perform additional tasks as needed
• Maintain equipment functionality and safety standards
• Ensure quality welds and UT passable welds
• Maintain production levels as directed by the supervisor
• Operate equipment safely and maintain safe working habits
• Perform other assigned tasks as necessary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 1 to 2 years welding experience required
• Knowledge of welding symbols, diagrams, blueprints, and instructional materials
• Ability to use welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, and Air Arc
• Experience with flux core and metal core wire welding
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Ability to work additional hours as needed
• Passing 2G test, T-Joint test, and Carbon Air Arc test results
• Overhead and Jib crane experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to perform welding duties through relevant experience, training, or education
