School Nurse – LPNPosition Function: The School Nurse-LPN provides school health services under the direction of The Director of Special Education. The LPN assists in implementing student health services, supporting student wellness, and maintaining a safe school environment.Essential Functions:Serves as a health advocate for students under RN supervisionPromotes a safe and healthy school environmentSupports health education effortsImplements health care plans as delegatedPerforms basic health screeningsCollaborates with school personnelCommunicates routine health concerns; refers complex issues to RNSupports communication with families and healthcare providersParticipates in student support teams as appropriateMonitors communicable diseases and immunization complianceProvides first aid and emergency careAdministers medications per policyMaintains accurate health recordsEnsures supplies and equipment are maintainedMaintains confidentialityKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of basic nursing care and student health needsUnderstanding of child growth and developmentFamiliarity with public health practicesAwareness of applicable laws and regulationsAbility to recognize signs of illnessStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to collaborate with supervising RNInterrelations:Frequent contact with students, staff, and familiesAbility to work with diverse populations professionallyPhysical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:Work in noisy and crowded environmentsUse of protective equipment when neededAbility to lift and move objectsTerms of Employment:At will employmentUp to a 40-hour work weekReport to school 15-30 minutes before school begins and stays 15-30 minutes after school ends.Remain on campus unless approvedPerformance Review:Evaluated in accordance with Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy
