Under the general direction of the Supervisor I, the Key Data Supervisor III (KDS III) supervises the activities of the Information Management Groups I/II. Responsibilities include hiring, staffing, planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the workload activities of multiple operational sub-units in coordination with subordinate supervisors. The incumbent exercises a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in identifying issues, implementing process improvements, and recommending procedural changes to enhance workflow efficiency and operational effectiveness.


Strict processing time frames require the incumbent to closely monitor the sub-units' levels of productivity. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate processing of departmental documents and electronic records utilizing various automated systems and office technologies. The positions requires a thorough understanding of departmental procedures, workflow management principles, automated office systems, and operational processes necessary to coordinate workload activities. The incumbent will participate in projects, specifically the testing, validation, and implementation of new or revised workloads, systems, and operational procedures to ensure alignment with business requirements and continuity of office operations.


The KDS III must be knowledgeable in the principles of effective supervision. The incumbent is responsible and accountable for supervising staff and subordinate supervisors; monitoring and reporting units performance; coordinating workloads to ensure smooth, timely, and accurate workflow; leading, training, and mentoring supervisory and support staff; completing performance evaluations; resolving operational and personnel issues; ensuring workload concerns are addressed timely; and keeping management informed of issues impacting workflow or operational efficiency.

The incumbent oversees staffing and scheduling activities to maximize workflow efficiency and ensure operational deadlines are met within established guidelines. Additional responsibilities include handling sensitive personnel matters, addressing performance issues, taking corrective action as appropriate, participating in the hiring process, and collaborating in cross sectional employee engagement activities.


Because of critical processing time frames and office-wide coverage needs, the incumbent may be required to work flexible schedules and occasional overtime. The incumbent may also be required to provide in-office coverage during opening or closing shifts.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.

Background Investigation Requirement
