About the Role In this role, you will help shape the daily work of your Park District by planning, coordinating, and supporting the operations that keep our parks thriving year-round. As a Supervisor II (SDA), you will guide staff development, communicate project priorities, uphold core values, and ensure essential administrative work runs smoothly. With a mix of natural areas, active recreation spaces, and trail systems to care for in every season, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining vibrant parks that serve the entire community. About the Team King County Parks' mission is to steward, enhance and acquire parks to inspire healthy communities, and with 205 parks, 32,000 acres of open space, 215+ miles of backcountry trail, and 175+ miles of regional trails, King County Parks offers close‑to‑home recreational experiences for everyone. The Operations Team is made up of approximately 180 full‑time staff and over 100 temporary employees, all supporting a wide range of services that provide meaningful experiences at every level of the organization. Learn more about our commitment at What You Will Be Doing Lead and support a high-performing team by supervising daily work, prioritizing tasks, and providing guidance on complex issues. Build strong relationships across the Parks Division, communicate effectively with leadership, and provide after-hours support when needed. Oversee employee performance and development, including evaluations, documentation, and disciplinary actions. Assist with hiring processes, respond to public inquiries or complaints, and support budgeting and purchasing activities. Ensure safety compliance by supervising the crew’s adherence to construction, OSHA/WISHA, and environmental standards, codes, regulations, and specifications. Support budgeting and purchasing activities including budget preparation, monitoring monthly/annual expenditures, authorizing purchases and code invoices. Identify training needs, deliver hands‑on instruction, and collaborate across the Parks Division through regular meetings on projects and schedules. Qualifications You Bring Three or more years of experience in Parks Maintenance Operations, working with a variety of staff such as maintenance workers, project managers, and event coordinators. Strong leadership background with consistent experience supervising crews, addressing safety needs (to include reading safety data sheets), and guiding team performance in a collaborative, inclusive environment. Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate work while building effective relationships with staff, stakeholders, and partners at all levels. Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage employees, peers, supervisors, and the public. Hands‑on knowledge of preventive maintenance programs for park facilities, natural lands, and related assets. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and asset management tools such as Lucity. Experience with resource planning, including estimating costs for park and trail projects and procuring the right equipment and supplies for crews. Physical Requirements: Ability to traverse uneven surfaces in all weather conditions. Workplace Exposures: This position requires the ability to work inside/outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, inclement weather while at various heights and/or within confined spaces, at all Parks facilities and other adverse conditions such as high-volume noise, dust and heavy traffic. It Would Be Great if You Also Bring Experience coordinating and working to support large-scale community events. Required Licenses/Certifications Valid Driver’s License Work Location: Sunset District in SeaTac Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. As needed, the Supervisor II may also work weekends or special events. This position will participate in Duty Officer rotations of being on-call for 2-weeks at a time a few times a year.
