Operating Engineer (2nd Shift) - JLL What this job involves: As a 2nd Shift Operating Engineer at JLL, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment, machinery, and related controls and components at client facilities located in Northern Illinois. This role requires you to work from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. while controlling daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and buildings. You'll perform maintenance and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems while being responsible for your assigned locations and providing backup coverage to other sites during emergencies that reflect JLL's commitment to operational excellence and client service (company vehicle and gas card provided). What your day-to-day will look like: • Control daily operation of all mechanical equipment in physical plant and buildings during 2nd shift operations • Monitor operation and maintain refrigeration, water cooled and air cooled equipment, heating, ventilation, and hot water equipment • Oversee chillers, cooling towers, pumps, CRAC/CRAH units, split systems and mini splits, heat pumps, VAV's, fan-powered boxes, VFD's, valves, piping and filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment for optimal performance • Perform maintenance and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems • Evaluate building systems to monitor and improve performance and operating efficiencies • Respond to emergencies at buildings throughout the region as needed (company vehicle and gas card provided) Preventative Maintenance and Service: • Formulate and implement preventative maintenance program for the building in conjunction with Operations Manager • Perform preventative maintenance tasks in timely manner while ensuring compliance with applicable standards • Complete all tenant service requests accurately and expediently during evening shift operations • Monitor quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors • Participate in emergency response procedures, technical and safety training programs Administrative and Support Functions: • Track and report time worked in accordance with account policies and procedures • Comply with all purchasing and receiving policies and procedures • Report property issues that are not within direct responsibility to Chief Engineer or Operations Manager • Complete all required training and safety programs while maintaining professional development • Periodically act as on-call engineer for portfolio of buildings • Handle special projects and other functions as required by manager or client Safety and Compliance7 • Perform all work using proper safety equipment and in safe manner while reporting safety issues to supervisor • Comply with all policies and procedures established for the building • Actively participate in emergency response procedures and safety training programs • Maintain Universal CFC certification and other required certifications Required Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED • Minimum 4 years experience in electrical and HVAC trade, including Roof Top Units Valid Stationary Engineering License • Minimum 4 years experience in backup systems (generator and UPS) • Valid Driver's License • Knowledge of maintenance and operation of building HVAC systems, and fire life safety systems • Universal CFC certification • Good interpersonal skills and positive team attitude • Familiarity with computers, operations, and office automation applications including Microsoft Office • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills Physical Requirements: • Ability to walk long distances to cover property portfolio • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds • Ability to work long hours occasionally and some weekends • Capability to respond to emergency situations during 2nd shift operations Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in direct interaction with tenants/occupants/clients • Data Center Operations and/or Critical Environments experience • Experience with Trane Tracer SC+ • Knowledge of Northern Illinois building codes and regulations Key Attributes: • Demonstrated consistency in values, principles, and work ethic • Understanding of and commitment to client service • Desire to work within diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment Location: Northern Illinois (Multiple Sites) Schedule: 2nd Shift - 2:00pm to 10:30 p.m. This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
