Behavioral Health Nurse Manager - RN

Custom Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Manager for a contract opportunity with a hospital in Queens, NY .

This position is ideal for an experienced psychiatric/behavioral health RN leader who is comfortable overseeing clinical operations, supporting nursing staff, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient care within a behavioral health setting.

Pay

$90.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and operational leadership for the Behavioral Health nursing unit
• Oversee daily nursing operations, staffing, assignments, and patient-care needs
• Support safe, high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric nursing care
• Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, and support to nursing staff
• Participate in staff onboarding, orientation, performance management, and professional development
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, physicians, nursing leadership, social work, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Promote effective patient flow, admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Ensure nursing practice is consistent with hospital policies, behavioral health standards, and regulatory requirements
• Monitor patient safety and support appropriate crisis-prevention and de-escalation practices
• Participate in quality improvement, performance improvement, and patient-safety initiatives
• Assist with staffing and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage for patient-care needs
• Support compliance with documentation, infection prevention, medication safety, and clinical standards

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license
• BSN required
• Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Behavioral Health/Psychiatric nursing experience preferred
• Previous Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Supervisor, Charge RN, or other nursing leadership experience required
• Hospital-based or inpatient Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, patient safety, crisis prevention, and de-escalation
• Experience with staffing, scheduling, performance management, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Must be comfortable leading within a fast-paced Behavioral Health environment
