Respiratory Therapist Opportunity

We're hiring an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist for a hospital in Ypsilanti, MI. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. Provide intensive respiratory care, patient transport, physician-prescribed treatments, monitoring, and education within scope of practice and minimal supervision. Perform ventilator management, airway interventions, arterial puncture, pulmonary function testing, suctioning, tracheostomy care, chest physiotherapy, 12-lead EKGs, capnography and oximetry monitoring, and assist with respiratory-related procedures according to policy. Maintain accurate documentation, equipment checks, and charge capture. Maintain communication with physicians and nursing during handoffs.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Current Michigan state respiratory therapist license in good standing.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Minimum one year of experience as an RRT in an acute care setting preferred; experience working with ventilators and invasive/non-invasive ventilation required.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation.
• Ability to perform 12-lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Experience with tracheostomy care and endotracheal intubation or airway management devices preferred.
• Ability to operate and perform self-test on mechanical ventilators and related respiratory equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification preferred.
• Prior hospital experience with moderate to high acuity patient populations preferred.
• Experience in bronchoscopy, chest tube management, and pleural drainage devices preferred.

Assignment Details

• Shift pattern: Night 3x12.
• Every other weekend commitment.
• May be required to float to other facilities within the client network as needed.
