Registered Nurse Emergency Department

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. This full-time role involves delivering direct patient care through the nursing process, demonstrating clinical expertise, and upholding the highest ethical standards in nursing practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to promote quality care.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and support clinical decision-making.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to comply with standards and improve outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to optimize patient results.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to improve their experience and support health education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state or compact licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Mental and Physical Demands

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
