Job Description

Title:  AIX SAN Admin - Schenectady, NY - 24 Months - # K17701/030740

Location: Schenectady, NY

Duration: 24 Months

Staff will perform the full range of system administration tasks as defined by the Manager of UNIX Systems, such as, but not limited to:
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer IBM AIX 6.1 & 7.1 Operating Systems on Power5, Power6 and Power7 systems
- Install, configure, support, upgrade and administer IBM Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using Advanced Power Virtualization (APV) features including the use of NPIV, Partition Mobility and VLAN Tagging.
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer enterprise class SAN attached storage such as IBM DS8300, DS3574, v7000, N-Series, and EMC storage systems
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer IBM San Volume Controller (SVC)
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer fiber SAN infrastructure on such hardware as IBM 2109-M48 SAN Director Switches
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer secure file transfer solutions such as Axway Secure Transport Server and Axway File Transfer Direct or applications that meet government regulatory requirements
- Create, modify and manage KORN shell scripts
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer enterprise backup solutions such as EMC Avamar, Tivoli Storage Manager
- Install, configure, upgrade and administer UNIX utilities such as Samba, SSH, SUDO
- Use of system performance monitoring tools such as IBM Director, IBM TPC, Ganglia and Big Brother
- Configure NFS for file archival and Sysback along with NIM Server configuration.

Qualifications

Candidates should have at least 36 Months experience, and the following should apply:

 

Recent experience installing, configuring, and administering IBM/AIX systems.

Recent experience installing, implementing and supporting IBM Virtual Input/Output (VIO) Servers using the Advanced Power Virtualization (APV) features including the use of NPIV and Partition Mobility

Recent experience in doing installs, upgrades, performance tuning, and day to day management of Enterprise SAN and NAS storages

Recent experience in doing installs, upgrades, performance tuning, and day to day management of IBM Hardware Management Console

Recent experience in doing installs, upgrades, performance tuning, and day to day management of a secure file transfer solution across multiple file transfer sites or applications which

Recent experience in doing installs, upgrades, performance tuning, and day to day management of fibre channel switches and IBM San Volume Controller

Recent experience in using NFS archiving, Sysback, Ignite, vDump and tar

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
