Staff Accountant Location: Benton Harbor, Michigan Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite Salary: $55,000–$65,000 Position Summary We are seeking a mission-driven Staff Accountant to join our team in Benton Harbor. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who wants to build a strong foundation while taking ownership of a full-scale month-end close . The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, up to three years of accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. This individual should be proactive, collaborative, and motivated by making a meaningful impact through their work. Key Responsibilities Own and support the full month-end close process , including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting. Prepare and analyze account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Assist with general ledger accounting and maintain accurate financial records. Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other day-to-day accounting activities as needed. Ensure accounting activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines. Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial information and resolve accounting issues. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and overall efficiency. Communicate financial information clearly with both accounting and non-accounting team members. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Up to 3 years of accounting experience ; internships and relevant academic experience considered. Experience or strong understanding of the month-end close process . Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Team-oriented, collaborative, and willing to take ownership.
