Title: Controls EngineerLocation: Birmingham with 40% TravelSalary: $75k - $125k - DOEWe are an industrial automation services firm focused on designing, programming, commissioning, and supporting control systems for manufacturing and industrial facilities. Our engineers work directly on real production equipment, owning projects end to end from concept and programming through startup and long term support.We are adding a Controls Engineer to our team who is hands on, technically strong, and comfortable working both on the plant floor and at a programming workstation.WHAT YOU WILL DODesign, program, test, and commission PLC based automation systemsTroubleshoot and support existing production equipment in live manufacturing environmentsDevelop and modify PLC logic, HMIs, and system architectures to improve uptime, safety, and throughputParticipate in on site startups, commissioning, and system debuggingIntegrate VFDs, motors, sensors, safety systems, vision systems, and industrial networksCollaborate closely with mechanical engineers, electricians, technicians, and customer teamsCreate and maintain electrical schematics, PLC and HMI programs, and system documentationSupport modernization and upgrades of legacy control systemsTECHNOLOGIES WE WORK WITHPLCs: Allen Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix) as a core platform; Siemens experience is a plusProgramming: Ladder Logic and Structured Text (experience with Python or C/C plus plus is a plus)HMIs and SCADA: PanelView, WinCC, or similar platformsIndustrial Communication: Ethernet IP, Profinet, and related fieldbus networksDrives and Motion: VFDs, motor control, positioning, and material handling applicationsIndustrial Hardware: Sensors, safety devices, vision systems, barcode and RFID, instrumentationWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR5 plus years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or PLC programmingStrong hands on troubleshooting skills in manufacturing or industrial environmentsAbility to independently design, program, and commission control systemsComfortable working directly on the plant floor during startups and breakdownsClear communicator who works well with technical and non technical stakeholdersWillingness to travel as needed for customer support and commissioningPREFERRED BACKGROUNDExperience in automotive, manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilitiesExposure to machine vision, safety PLCs, or advanced sensor integrationFamiliarity with upgrading or standardizing legacy systemsBackground progressing from maintenance or technician roles into controls engineeringEDUCATIONAssociate or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, or equivalent hands on experienceWHY THIS ROLEEngineers here do not just write code, they own the systemWork on diverse automation projects with real technical depthHigh level of autonomy, responsibility, and trustCollaborative environment with experienced controls professionalsBenefitsHealth, Dental, Vision401K with MatchBonusPTO
