Senior Mechanical EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC and MEP design efforts for commercial and institutional projects. The role requires technical leadership in mechanical systems design, coordination with architects and multidisciplinary teams, and delivery of high-quality construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide design direction, mentor junior staff, ensure code compliance, and support projects from concept through construction.Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, and related MEP) system design for medium to large projects, producing efficient, buildable solutions that meet client requirements and budget.Create, review and deliver detailed construction documents and BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD; maintain model and drawing quality standards.Develop system layouts, equipment selection, load calculations, duct and piping sizing, and control strategies; verify selections for performance, efficiency and cost.Coordinate MEP design with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve clashes and integrate systems within project constraints.Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, local codes), and sustainability requirements; prepare code narratives and basis of design.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, designers, and drafters; review work for accuracy and constructability.Support project management activities including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and client presentations; track progress and deliverables.Respond to contractor RFIs, provide site support during construction administration, review submittals, and conduct field inspections as required.Drive continuous improvement by implementing best practices for design workflows, BIM coordination, and QA/QC processes.Participate in client meetings, proposals, and business development as needed to grow relationships and contribute to project pursuit.QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field); Masters preferred.Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.Minimum 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on HVAC and MEP systems design for commercial, institutional, or industrial projects.Proficiency with Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD required; experience producing and coordinating shared models in a multidisciplinary environment.Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, load calculations, ductwork and piping design, equipment selection, controls, and energy efficiency strategies.Familiarity with codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, ICC/IBC, and local building codes.Demonstrated experience in project coordination, constructability review, and construction administration.Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills with ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with clients.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines; experience with project management tools and QA/QC processes.Experience with MEP coordination software, energy modeling tools, and sustainable design practices is a plus.BenefitsCompetitive salary with performance-based bonus opportunitiesComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with company contribution/matchPaid vacation, holidays, and sick leaveFlexible work schedule options
