HVAC Area Service Manager

Area Service Manager (ASM) reports to the Operations Manager and oversees the performance, development, and scheduling of commercial HVAC service technicians. Responsibilities Active participation in recruiting and hiring of technicians. Supervise and develop technician workforce. Assist Operations Manager with forecasting staffing needs and hiring accordingly. Ensure technician productivity meets or exceeds established goals. Maintain quality site surveys, sales, and support to sustain the market. Handle escalated service issues involving field/technician matters. Develop training plans for assigned technicians using company materials. Provide technical support and maintain quality of work across the area. Ride along with technicians to observe performance. Conduct annual technician reviews with VP approval. Act as a positive image and role model for the technician team. Protect company image, appearance, and reputation. Promote and enforce safety practices. Enforce company policies. Maintain local customer relationships for the assigned area with RSM and Account Managers. Service Meetings Conduct weekly service meetings. Communicate goals and objectives, deliver performance scorecards. Recognize top performers. Inspect all service vans for cleanliness, oil life, fluids. Inspect equipment and ensure technicians have proper PPE. Discuss weekly safety topics. Review new customer requirements. Go over callbacks and additional repairs needed. Receive technician feedback on scheduling and office issues. Qualifications Minimum 10 years as an HVAC service technician; management experience is a plus. Technical knowledge to provide value to technicians and customers. Commitment to continuous education in the technical field. Professional communication skills with customers; resolve concerns locally. Strong attention to detail, quality, organizational skills, prioritization, and meeting deadlines. Ability to focus on desired results and adapt to fast-paced environments. Maintain a clean and professional appearance. Travel as required. Experience in recruiting and hiring technicians. High school diploma preferred. Previous HVAC or service business experience preferred. Physical requirements: lift up to 100 lbs.; lift and maneuver a 32-ft ladder (~96 lbs.); extensive kneeling and squatting; climb ladders multiple times; haul equipment/tools to roof; drive extended hours up to 8-10 hrs per day.
