Job Summary: Serve as a lead technician for furniture repair. Communicate with Principals and Administrators. Receive and complete signed work orders. Prioritize workload and direct the work of temporary labor helpers. Responsible for furniture repair including the following:

• Repair and refurbishment of all school and Central Office furniture
• Transporting furniture to/from schools for repair and/or refurbishment
• Cycle and physical inventories of the furniture repair department
• Trucks, vans, tools and other fixed assets assigned to the furniture repair department

What You Will Do:

• Controls inventory assets by utilizing a basic understanding of standard Materials Management concepts.
• Identify needed improvements and recommend changes where necessary.
• Assist with the removal any items sold through Metro Governments E-Bid.
• Assist in reconciling discrepancies in asset records (e.g., physical counts versus reported items, physical location of items) for the purpose of maintaining a computerized inventory of all assets as required by state, federal and administrative regulations.
• Repair and or refurbish all types of classroom and office furniture. Weld and solder metal furniture. Refinish wood furniture.
• Assemble furniture from kits.
• Modify existing furniture to exact specifications.
• Provide ongoing feedback regarding furniture quality, repair records, warranties, etc.

Education Qualifications:

• High School Diploma GED or related vocational training Required

Experience Qualifications:

• Two years' experience operating power tools, welders and other applicable tools and using standardized industry processes Required

Licenses and Certifications:

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Current TN Required

Equivalency Starting At: $22.43

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
