Intermediate District 287 serves students in grades K‑12 and transition‑age students (18‑22 years old) from our 12 member districts in the west metro area. Our district offers a wide range of services and specialized programs, primarily focused on setting IV special education, designed to meet the diverse needs of our students. Why Work with Us? Position Details Location: Based out of the District Service Center in Plymouth, MN Reports to: Senior Manager of Health & Safety Start Date: July 1, 2026 Contracted days: 261 days Salary: Minimum starting salary for Administrative Managers is $79,000 Benefits Low‑cost medical and dental insurance District‑funded HRA account Life insurance and long‑term disability Optional health care FSA Optional dependent care FSA Extensive wellness services including 6 free confidential counseling sessions Retirement benefits through PERA Optional 403(b) with district match after one year Paid time off Mental health benefits Ongoing professional development Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, behavior, safety, and security, or a related field from an accredited institution AND at least two (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or complex needs. Must have a working knowledge of de‑escalation techniques and intervention strategies. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered as acceptable substitution. Licensure Requirements First Aid and CPR Certified Minnesota Protective Agent License (preferred) State of Minnesota Emergency Manager Certified (preferred) Essential Functions Lead the training, coaching, mentoring, and professional development of Student Safety Coaches. Manage and oversee Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Everyday Behavior Tools, and related training; collaborate with the special education department for CPI and related training. Lead critical incident and restrictive procedure data collection; assist staff in analyzing and interpreting data to assess intervention effectiveness. Promote equitable student safety, behavior‑response practices, and learning outcomes for all students. Support evidence‑based social‑emotional learning practices through community building, restorative practices, and other strategies. Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing staff development and training on safety and security best practices, including management of safety policies, programs, and procedures. Collaborate with strategic planning teams to align site‑based health and safety practices with the strategic plan; manage site fire drills, lockdown drills, and provide feedback; recommend improvements to administrators and executive directors. Assist administration in developing and maintaining Board policies and procedures in school safety and security. Active participant in Restrictive Procedure Oversight Committee work. Provide instruction to administrators on proper methods to review and strengthen site entry protocols. Counsel and assist instructional, support, and ancillary personnel in problem‑solving activities related to student behavior to determine appropriate solutions. Provide support to staff at 360 meetings as needed. Conduct safety planning and implementation of safety and crisis plans in conjunction with the District Incident Command Team.
