Role Description The Interpreter role is a contract, on-site position based in Cleveland, OH. Interpreters will provide accurate and culturally appropriate oral interpretation between English and the client’s preferred language during appointments, meetings, and service delivery, both individually and in group settings. Must have access to reliable transportation to work onsite at a variety of locations in the Cleveland area. The Interpreter will maintain confidentiality, follow professional ethics, and prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant terminology and context. Additional duties may include occasional translation of documents. Qualifications Strong bilingual or multilingual communication skills, with fluency in English and at least one additional language commonly spoken by refugee and immigrant communities. Demonstrated interpreting ability in community, social services, healthcare, legal, or educational settings, with attention to accuracy and neutrality. Understanding of professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and cultural sensitivity in work with diverse populations. Ability to listen actively, convey complex information clearly, and manage communication in emotionally sensitive or high-stress situations. Organizational skills, reliability in honoring scheduled assignments, and the ability to work effectively with staff and clients in an on-site environment. Prior experience in interpretation is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or certification in interpreting or translation is a plus.
