Position Title Quarterly Lecturer - Civil Engineering (2026-2027 Pool) Position Type Temporary Salary Range $10,948 per Course Equivalent (CE) Purpose The Department of Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering seeks quarterly lecturers to teach Civil Engineering courses during the 2026-2027 academic year. Santa Clara University operates on a 10‑week quarter system. Graduate classes are typically held in the 7:10‑9:00 a.m., 5:10‑7:00 p.m., and 7:10‑9:00 p.m. time slots; undergraduate classes are scheduled throughout the week. Course Equivalencies Undergraduate: 4 unit lecture = 1 CE; 1 unit lab = 0.5 CE; 1 unit lab with a teaching assistant = 0.25 CE Graduate: 4 unit lecture = 1 CE; 2 unit lecture = 0.66 CE Basic Qualifications Earned graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; at a minimum, a Master’s degree with equivalent experience. Demonstrated excellence in teaching Civil Engineering at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Responsibilities Prepare and conduct all assigned class meetings. Assign and evaluate/grade student work appropriately. Be available to students for consultation outside of class. Assign student grades appropriately and submit them on time to the Office of Student Records. Conduct course assessments as required by the department.
