About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips. Description: - Unit consists of 38 beds, with 8 telemetry beds. - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. - Charge Nurse generally does not take patients but provides break relief. - Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictate. - Weekend requirement is every other weekend. - Holidays are rotated with core staff. - Scrub color is navy, with under shirts in navy, white, or black; scrub jackets are optional but must be navy. - Competency in administering Amiodarone and Diltiazem drips is required. - Vents are not managed on this unit. - Clientist or intensivist is in-house to assist with patient care. - Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available 24/7. - Shifts are 12 hours, starting at 6:45 am, with bedside report. - Self-scheduling is employed but finalized by management to maintain balance. - Schedules are available 4 weeks in advance. - Ability to float to tele is required. - Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor. - Common diagnoses include general MedSurg patients and post-operative general and orthopedic patients. - The unit operates in a very fast-paced environment with a 2-hallway layout. - COVID requirements include a medical declination accompanied by a physician's note, or religious declination with no supporting documentation needed. - The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. - Charting system in use is Cerner.
