Tableau Administrator Developer

Job Summary:

The NCDHHS Tableau Administrator/Developer is a dynamic, customer-focused role within the Information Technology Division of the Department of Health and Human Services. This hybrid position involves administering and supporting the Tableau server platform, serving as a centralized expert and resource for Tableau users, and consulting on content development to deliver effective business intelligence solutions. Responsibilities:

• Configure, maintain, and support the Tableau Server platform and associated client products.
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for Tableau environments.
• Act as a center of excellence for Tableau usage, including managing internal user groups and training staff.
• Collaborate with key business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver Tableau-based solutions.
• Consult on the development and design of dashboards, reports, and business intelligence content.
• Ensure best practices in data modeling, impact analysis, and data management are followed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum of 4 years experience in Business Intelligence software development and maintenance.
• At least 2 years of Tableau development experience and 1-3 years of Tableau Server administration in an enterprise environment.
• Expert knowledge of Tableau development, practices, techniques, and standards.
• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, dashboard development, and report design concepts.
• Proficiency in installation, configuration, and support of Tableau Server and Tableau client products.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Familiarity with data management processes, SQL, and SaaS environments.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience creating and managing internal user groups or centers of excellence for Tableau.
• Advanced knowledge of dashboard and report development best practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with business representatives and stakeholders.

Special Considerations:

• Absences greater than two weeks require prior approval and must include contact information for reachability.
• The client reserves the right to dismiss the resource if they do not return to work by the agreed date.
• Onsite work is required two days per week.
• Candidates must be able to attend interviews in person.
• Compliance with all contractual and compensation-related requirements is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Hybrid work schedule with two days per week onsite attendance.
• Assignment duration from September 14, 2026, through April 12, 2027.
