Job Summary A Nurse Extern Student Nurse at Overland Park Regional Medical Center will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role involves performing delegated basic patient care and activities of daily living, while gaining hands‑on experience and preparing for a future graduate nurse career. Responsibilities Provide delegated basic nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Extern’s training and the Department’s needs. Assist the nursing staff in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment. Support the patient‑care team with daily nursing functions and activities of daily living. Work flexible schedules, with the opportunity to earn shadow time on additional units. Participate in post‑orientation and clinical skills check‑off to expand competencies. Be eligible for early interview for Graduate Nurse opportunities. Qualifications Enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program; RN preferred. Completion of Nursing Fundamentals by start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start. High School graduate or GED.
