Unit Resource Nurse IV - Cath Lab - FT Days

Description The Unit Resource Nurse IV is responsible for providing all aspects of clinical care while providing effective and appropriate communication to ensure the optimal patient experience possible. Assignments will include but are not limited to admission, transfer, discharge, meal/break relief and other duties as assigned. Core Competencies Adheres to infection prevention guidelines Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards of practice to deliver safe and optimal care Assesses patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status Communicates with the patient, family, medical staff and others during the continuum of care Complies with Joint Commission’s national patient safety goals Complies with organizational quality dashboard/benchmarking goals Interprets common variables affecting patient care and follows reporting process Maintains regulatory compliance consistent with quality standards and ethical obligations of the profession Participates in activities in alignment with the Magnet Model Participates in organizational activities Participates in Peer Review Participates in professional development activities Performs as a preceptor in an active and engaged manner Provides age-specific individualized care that supports protection from harm and complies with patient safety centered interventions/bundles Provides patient and family education throughout the care of patient Uses critical thinking to formulate and carry out a care plan according to patient needs Utilizes resources in an economical manner Utilizes safe administration of medications Utilizes Safe Patient Handling Department Specific Competencies Proficient in monitoring and circulating in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, structural heart, and EP device and ablation procedures Knowledge of coronary and peripheral vascular anatomy and intervention Ability to operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment (i.e. IVUS, OCT, Merge, FFR/iFR) Proficient with hemodynamic monitoring, waveform interpretation, and pressure analysis Competent in sterile technique and procedure room setup Ability to scrub, circulate, and monitor in a high-acuity setting Responds effectively to emergent situations: STEMI, coronary/ventricular perforation, tamponade, code blue, acute MI, etc. Administers emergency drugs and manages ACLS protocols Quick recognition and escalation of rhythm changes or hemodynamic instability Familiar with crash cart contents and defibrillator use Participates in timeouts, maintains situational awareness during high-risk cases Prepares, administers, and documents high-risk medications (i.e. heparin, adenosine, nitroglycerin, contrast media, sedation agents) Knowledge of anticoagulants, antiplatelets, sedation, pain medications and their reversal Ability to perform thorough pre-procedure assessments and post-procedure recovery (including sheath management, access site monitoring) Accurately completes documentation in EMR Communicates effectively with MDs, anesthesia, imaging, recovery Collaborates with Lead RN to plan staff meal and break periods, provides coverage Maintains daily readiness of lab (supply, equipment, QA checks) Education Degree: Associate Nursing, Program: Associate Nursing Experience 2 years Cardiac Cath Lab experience. License / Certification Requirements ACLS Certification, Basic arrhythmia and/or 12‑lead ECG course or equivalent work experience. Registered Nurse License.
