Senior Database Platform Engineer

Job Description:The Senior Database Platform Engineer will work as part of a team to create and refine innovative solutions to empower our business. This multi-discipline role will enable the business and technology teams to leverage various data platform technologies at a high level. The Engineer will enable users to provision, analyze and consume data via performant, secure and scalable database platforms.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESArchitects and automates database platform provisioning, configuration, monitoring, issue remediation, and security.Applies expert understanding and troubleshooting of complex database systems.Establishes, implements, and maintains best practice standards around code quality, deployment, security, architecture, and automation.Collaborates with business and technology teams to accomplish engineering project goals.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience10+ years of experience engineering for database engines (ex: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake)10+ years of experience programming interpreted scripting languages (Python and/ or Powershell)7+ years of experience working with cloud platforms in various cloud service providers (ex: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, RDS, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)8+ years of experience using SQL or NoSQL based languages8+ years of experience using and developing with configuration management products and applying Infrastructure as Code principles (ex; Terraform, Ansible, Powershell DSC, Puppet, Chef, Cloud Formation, etc.)5+ years of experience working with containerized platformsExpert knowledge of relevant database platform engine internals, infrastructure and conceptsExpert knowledge of CI/CD and SDLC workflow (Ex: JIRA, Git, Github, Github Actions, Liquibase, Jenkins, Octopus, DbUp, etc.)Experience working with KafkaExperience working and developing with/on REST APIs and other non-DB direct interfacesApplies a high bar for database platform architecture and security to solutionsEmbodies and applies an engineering mindset to all aspects of their roleExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
