This advertisement is for a select exempt service position located in the clerk's office at the division of administrative hearings. Position overview: the clerk's office is seeking a meticulous, highly detail-oriented proofreader to assist judges with reviewing proposed orders. The ideal candidate will have exceptional grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy; the ability to identify subtle errors, inconsistencies, omissions, and formatting issues in legal and administrative documents before they become part of the official record; and the ability to work confidentially and meet deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities: perform proofreading review and quality control check of proposed orders and other documents. Identify and correct discrepancies involving names, dates, case numbers, citations, and other critical case information. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, & abilities: exceptional knowledge of english grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax. Knowledge of microsoft office suite and adobe. Ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, omissions, and formatting issues in complex documents. Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy while reviewing documents ability to interpret and follow detailed procedures and style requirements. Ability to compare multiple versions of documents and identify changes. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to deliver messages through interoffice mail, email, phone, and in person. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Required qualifications: high school diploma, ged, or equivalent certificate of completion. 12 years of professional experience involving proofreading, quality control, document review, legal support, records management, or administrative support.
Preferred qualifications: associate's or bachelor's degree in english, communications, legal studies, criminal justice or related field.
