Meat Department SupervisorTo provide quality customer service by directing and supervising all functions and activities of Meat Department personnel to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the department; to maintain and operate the Meat Department in an efficient manner within store policies.CompetenciesFriendlyStrong leadership skillsExcellent customer service skillsSelf-starter abilityIntegrityGood communication and listening skillsAttention to detail and organizationTime commitmentAbility to lift (up to 50 lbs)Ability to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to stoop, bend and reach.Math skills necessary to supervise and handle department operations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMust be able to work variable shiftsEnsures that all department personnel are trained in the store's method of performing department activities.Greets customers and provides them with a prompt and courteous service or assistance as needed.Follows approved Meat department plans for effective space management based on product movement, consumer demand, and on profitability.Monitors the receiving and unloading of meat merchandise to: Ensure that the meat receiving accurately reflects the items and counts listed on vendor invoicesEnsure accurate billing and pricingConfirm quality, code dates, counts and conditionsEnforce receiving procedures according to store policyOrders and maintains inventory to ensure freshness, product quality and turnover to a maximize sales and minimize out-of-stocks or overstocks.Ensures that all meat cuts are properly trimmed and attractively presented.Ensures that product pricing makes adequate allowance for tare weights and shrink as applicable.Ensures that perishable merchandise is rotated in accordance with department policies and product code dates.Implements a procedure for making regularly scheduled inspections of packaged products for freshness and visual appeal, pulling products for re-wrapping a required.Ensures that all signs and prices are maintained accurately and are correctly positioned over each respective product.Takes care of damaged, out-of-code and spoiled products according to department procedures and takes positive action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.Verifies front-end (POS) accuracy and integrityParticipates in training activities to increase personal skill level, to improve overall department processes and customer serviceEnforces general housekeeping and regular sanitation and cleaning program that meets the standards established by the department and all applicable health regulations.Evaluates and reacts to performance issues and actively recruits as necessary.
